The mandate of the Campaign Comission Working Group is to allow for and to assure common European campaign work on Fair Trade. A structured awareness raising and consumer campaign work.
The biggest campaign WFTO develops each year is regarding the World Fair Trade Day (WFTD). The AGM of WFTO Global decided by consensus to have Fair Trade and Environment as a common theme of the WFTD for two years (2007-2008). WFTO Europe has also contributed to this global mandate and this work has been done by the Campaign Commission Working Group.
The mandate of the Campaign Commission is to work out a workplan for an European Fair Trade and Environment Campaign linked into the Global Campaigning, around the WFTD. The campaigns that have been launched over the last few years have had a permanent dynamic going beyond the organization of the WFTD, with activities all over the year until the next WFTD. The campaigns contribute to the visibility of the core values of Fair Trade, and the added value of Fair Trade Organizations with WFTO Global and WFTO Europe at the heart of the networking commitment.
In all the campaigns developed by WFTO, its logo remains as the main icon. Only organizations which demonstrate a 100% commitment to Fair Trade in all their business can use it. These organizations are monitored WFTO members and the only ones authorized to use the logo. The WFTO logo is not a product mark, it is rather used to brand organizations that are committed to 100% Fair Trade. It sets them apart from commercial as well as other Fair Trade businesses and provides a clear signal to retailers, partners, governments and donors that their core activity is Fair Trade.
