Fair Handeln is hosting a international Fair Trade exhibition from April 14 to April 17.  The event is organized by the Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH and is going to be held at the Trade Fair Centre Stuttgart in Germany. The hours run on Thursday from 2:00 am to 10:00 pm and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Friday through Sunday.

The Fair Handeln 2011 mission statement is:

-"Expansion of the successful international information and networking service for globally responsible and sustainable trade."
-"Expansion of a sales platform for specialist and retail trade"
-"Public presentation of possible courses of action for a sustainable future."

The first day of the exhibition will be directed towards trade visitors and in the evening there will be an event called "Night of the Senses" which is open until 10:00 pm. The second day, Friday April 15, is geared toward students, who will be able to learn about global contexts, sustainability and Fair Trade. There will be films, quizzes, workshops, and more- all free of charge! Finally, the two last days, Saturday and Sunday are directed towards families. There will be information on sustainable investments, quality seals and slow/organic/fair food.

Exhibition areas will be divided into:

  • -Fair Trade-Sustainable tourism
  • -Development Cooperation
  • -Fair Public and Municipal Procurement
  • -Sustainable Finance/Investments
  • -Corporate social responsibility

Fair Handeln has been reaching out globally for the expansion and recognition of sustainable and Fair Trade for many years. Last year’s event brought in over 7000 people to see just what their social responsibility is, both locally and abroad with regards to positive progress using Fair Trade products. The main focus this year will be about corporate sustainability and will encourage its visitors to consider ethical methods to spending money during tourism and even a new spin on investing your money to maximize sustainability. Look forward to another event later this year, Fair Act 2011, which will feature a fashion forward way to fair trading!
